Gluing cheese: (metaphor) doing things which are ridiculous and/or seemingly impossible.

Separated families can be super happy – an interview with Richy K. Chandler.

Last year, TJ and I hit some tricky territory. He began asking questions about why his mummy and daddy didn't live together. Three-year-old TJ was wondering why his home life was slightly different to that of some of his friends. I had to explain separated families to...

The First Wives Club – when your ex gets hitched.

My ex-husband has remarried. It wasn’t a surprise, despite the short engagement which began only earlier this year. In fact, I called it over two years ago. It was when I met his now new wife for the first time after they had been dating for six months, as per our...

All change, please! TJ’s first day at school.

2020 has been a year of surprises. No one expected the basic shit storm which has happened as a result of the pandemic. But – controversially or otherwise – it feels like the fog is lifting and things are getting a little bit back to normal/new normal. The most...

Single and fabulous? What it means to be single.

Single parents are normal people too.

It’s the show that everyone is talking about – BBC’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People. Sublime. Captivating. Achingly good. Perfect. That’s just some of the words which have been exchanged on WhatsApp as my friends and I discuss this beauty of a boxset. The...

About Gluing Cheese.

The internet is full of those annoying parenting and relationship bloggers who claim to know everything about the stuff which modern life constantly throws at us.

You won’t find that here.

I’m a 30-something single working mum and I will share my daily adventures to try and master the impossible to keep that all ticking over. You know, like gluing cheese when your kid’s Babybel breaks in two and they are tantruming over it. True story.

So, I will talk about relationships of every kind and share stories about raising my bloody brilliant little boy.

I hope you enjoy!
